People often say that SEO is the “foundation of your house.” While this is true in terms of its importance, it is not something you do once and then move on. A better analogy is that of a new race car. You have it all gassed up and before you know it, your SEO is on the track and is competing. Maybe in the first few minutes, you aren’t going to run into any problems, but eventually, that car will run out of gas. It will need maintenance or it will break down.

At the very least it will not perform as well as it could, which gives competitors an opportunity to pass you. Without ongoing SEO, you will see a decrease in traffic, lower search rankings, fewer leads, and less revenue. To assume that you don’t need to update your SEO is to assume customers’ tastes and preferences don’t change, which is of course, false.

The point is this; there are many correct ways to leverage SEO that can have a big impact on your business and it’s important to capitalize on these wins because if you don’t, your competition will.
