1. Set Up Google Analytics

Before you can track anything, you need to install Google Analytics on your site.

  • Sign up for Google Analytics (analytics.google.com).
  • Get your tracking code and add it to your website (or use a plugin like Google Site Kit for WordPress)
  • Let the data start rolling in! It might take 48 hours to see the first bits of data.

2. Find Out Where Your Traffic Comes From

Go to Reports → Engagement → Pages and Screens to check which pages get the most traffic.

      • Portfolio Pages — Are people browsing your past work and showcase pages? Are some projects getting more attention than others?
      • Blog Posts — Which topics are bringing in visitors?
      • Service Pages — Are potential clients exploring your offerings?

      SEO Insight: If a blog post is popular, optimize it further by adding internal links and updating the content to refresh it for Google!

      4. Discover The Keywords Bringing You Traffic

      To see which search terms people use to find you, connect Google Search Console to your Google Analytics account. HERE are the instructions on how to set it up.

      Once that’s done, go to Acquisition → Search Console → Queries to see which search terms bring people to your site.

      • Double down on high-ranking keywords by creating more content around them.
      • Improve low-ranking keywords by optimizing your pages with better titles and descriptions.

      5. Track What Visitors Do on Your Site

      Go to Reports → Engagement → Events, check if people:

      • Click on contact forms or book consultations (conversions).
      • Scroll around and look at your site (scroll depth).
      • Click on buttons, phone numbers, or calls to action (click tracking).

      SEO Insight: If people leave too soon, make sure your site is fast, easy to navigate, and mobile-friendly.

      6. Measure SEO Success Over Time

      Compare the past 30 days vs. the previous 30 days to see if your SEO efforts are working.

      • More organic traffic = your SEO is improving!
      • No change? Try updating old content, improving page speed, or adding new blog posts.
