This interior design SEO case study follows Rob Bowen Design, a luxury interior design firm based in St. Petersburg, Florida, through 12 months of SEO for interior designers and AI search optimization with Wingnut Social.

PROBLEM

Rob Bowen Design already had what most interior design firms spend years building: an exceptional portfolio, an award-winning reputation, a distinctive point of view and recognition across Florida’s luxury design market.

The challenge wasn’t creating more credibility. It was making that credibility easier to find. The goal was to connect the firm with people searching for the specific services, locations and level of expertise it offers, rather than chasing volume on generic terms.

SOLUTION

The strategy was built to bring the right people to the right pages, and then lead them to the right next step.

1. We started with search intent

Someone searching “interior design ideas” wants inspiration. Someone searching “luxury interior designer Sarasota” is choosing a firm. We researched the search landscape around the firm’s services and markets, then focused on searches with clear commercial and local intent.

2. We built out local search visibility

The firm is based in St. Petersburg and serves clients across Tampa, Sarasota and Clearwater. Each location page was written around the services a client in that city is looking for, not just a city name dropped into generic copy.

3. We turned portfolio projects into search opportunities

Beautiful photos alone don’t give Google enough context. Each project now explains where it is, what kind of project it was, the services involved, the style, the materials and what made it distinctive, so clients and search engines both understand what the firm does.

4. We chose high-value keywords over high-volume ones

A broad phrase can bring thousands of searches and very few people ready to hire a high-end designer. We targeted searches that signal intent, location, service and level of investment.

Google and AI tools need to understand who a business is, what it specializes in, where it works and why it’s credible. We turned the firm’s awards, media coverage and nearly two decades of work into signals they can read.

LET’S GET SPECIFIC

Over 12 months of SEO and AI search work:

  • 88% increase in search visibility (organic impressions)
  • 120% increase in AI visibility
  • 42.5% of all users came from organic search, the firm’s largest source of new visitors
  • 45K+ impressions on the new location pages
  • 15 new keywords ranking in Google
  • AI-referred visitors stayed 1 min 7 sec on average, and 15.71% completed a key action

The bigger win is structural: the site is now built to be found by clients who are actively looking for luxury design services.

WOW—what an incredible update! I’m completely blown away by the magic you and your team have created. These results are beyond amazing, and it’s such a testament to the strategy, creativity, and energy you’re putting into this. You guys are total rockstars!
